Many children were among the deceased in the plane of Spanair airlines which crashed Wednesday killing at least 153 people and injuring 20 at the international airport of Madrid, Spain, authorities said.
General Director of Municipal Assistance of Urgency and Rescue Service (SAMUR) Evigio Corral said the minors were accompanying their parents in the airplane whose destiny was Las Palmas, a tourist resort in the Canary Islands.
The nine crew members died and of the 173 passengers only 20 people survived including children and adults with severe burns and some others with less severe burns, Corral said.
