Poland has met required parameters to join the euro zone, and the year 2011 is a challenging but feasible task, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Tuesday.
Speaking to TVN24 news channel, Tusk said that there is no problem with the level of inflation in Poland in relation to EU states and the level of the budget deficit.
The prime minister added that "those two years in the waiting room, that is the ERM II (Exchange Rate Mechanism) ... Poland, in my opinion, is able to meet without any dramatic efforts."
Tusk announced last week that the Polish government will pursue the country's euro-zone entry in 2011.
Poland joined the European Union in 2004 along with nine other nations. Of those countries, Slovenia began using the euro last year and Cyprus and Malta adopted the common currency this year. Slovakia will join the euro zone next year.
