Two German pilots were killed Tuesday afternoon when their plane crashed into the headquarters of Austria's police commando unit "Cobra," a police officer said Wednesday.
The accident, which occurred at about 5:40 p.m. (1540 GMT), might have been caused by dense fog, said Col. Ernst Schuch.
The roof of the building, located near an airport south of Vienna, was hit and set ablaze by the crash, he said, adding that firefighters put out the fire late Tuesday.
Schuch said the plane was a single-engine light aircraft manufactured in Hungary. The two pilots, whose bodies were severely burnt, were on their way from Germany to Hungary via Austria.
