Borut Pahor from the leftist Social Democrats has been proposed as the Slovenian Prime Minister designate on Wednesday, the official Slovenian Press Agency reported.
On consulting the country's political parties, President Danilo Tuerk has decided to propose Pahor to form the next Slovenian government, party representatives confirmed.
Pahor's opposite Social Democrats narrowly defeated the outgoing Prime Minister Janez Jansa's center-right Slovenian Democrats in the Sept. 21 general election.
With 29 seats in hand and the support of several smaller parties, Pahor is expected to get the required absolute majority in the 90-seat parliament.
