Mikel Garikoitz Aspiazu, the suspected leader of Basque separatist group ETA, is being investigated for charges of terrorism by a Paris court, according to French judicial official source.

The 35-year-old Garikoitz Aspiazu, aka Txeroki, is described by Spanish officials as the head of ETA. He was arrested Monday in southwest France.

Several charges have been filed against Garikoitz Aspiazu, including "association with a terrorist enterprise," the source said. If convicted, he will face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
