Russian president visits Brazil |

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived here Monday on a three-day visit to Brazil, where he will meet his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and sign deals on aerospace, nuclear energy and defense cooperation with Brazil.
Brazil will sign a 300-million-U.S.-dollar deal with Russia for the purchase of 12 Russian MI-35 military helicopters.
The two presidents will discuss the international financial crisis and an eventual resumption of the Doha round of global trade negotiations.
Medvedev will also visit the headquarters of Brazil's state-owned oil and gas company Petrobras and attend the opening ceremony of the 3rd World Congress Against Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents.
Lula and Medvedev will also sign an agreement aimed to double bilateral trade by 2010 to reach 10 billion dollars.
The Brazilian government also intends to increase meat exports to Russia and has agreed to increase wheat and fertilizer imports from there.
Brazil is Medvedev's second stop of his Latin American tour that also includes stops in Venezuela and Cuba. He earlier attended the annual Economic Leaders' Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Lima, capital of Peru.
