New Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann stressed at the program "News Hour" of Austrian Television(ORF) Sunday that the major challenge at present in responding to the economic crisis is to curb the continually increasing unemployment.
He admitted that "no one knows how the economic crisis will further develop." Maybe the economic growth will be as low as only minus 0.2 percent or even minus 0.5 percent, so the best way to respond is to take active measures instead of only being passively involved.
He believed that it is very import at present to help people get rid of fears, which needs to "establish their confidence instead of sugaring up the situation," especially to reduce unemployment as much as possible.
Faymann also pointed out that the effort to solve unemployment problem can not be neglected at any time, because it also relates to social stability and continual operation of the social security system.
