Romania's Prime Minster-designate Theodor Stolojan decided on Monday noon to back out of the government.

"I have decided to tender my resignation as prime minister-designate to Romanian president," said Theodor Stolojan, adding that "the two presidents of parties have signed the Partnership for Romania to ensure a government."

Theodor Stolojan, vice-president of the Democrat Liberal Party (PD-L), was designated by the president of Romania last Wednesday as prime minister.

Theodor Stolojan, 65, served as Romania's prime minister from October, 1991 to November, 1992. He also served as finance minister from May, 1990 to April, 1991.
