NATO will continue cooperation with Georgia and Ukraine on their future accession to the military alliance led by the United States, a senior NATO official said in Baku on Tuesday.

"There's still a lot of things to be done for the two states to join NATO," local media cited NATO Deputy Secretary General Claudio Bisogniero, who is visiting Azerbaijan that neighbors the Caucasus state of Georgia.

Azeri Defense Minister Safar Abiyev discussed bilateral and regional issues with Bisogniero, said the Azeri Defense Ministry.

Georgia and Ukraine have been striving for NATO membership amid thorny ties with Russia, which confronted with strong opposition from Moscow.
