One sailor was killed in a fire on Russia's aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov late Tuesday, local media reported Wednesday.
The flame lasted for about two hours before it was put out late Tuesday, Interfax news agency cited a Defense Ministry source as saying.
The vessel was among a group of Russian warships that were heading for the southeastern Mediterranean.
Russian navy experts said in a preliminary report that the incident was possibly caused by a failure in the fuel system in the machine compartment.
