Polish and Ukrainian presidents Lech Kaczynski and Viktor Yushchenko had a phone talk on Monday to discuss the ongoing gas crisis, Polish news agency PAP reported.
The talk focused on gas transit through Ukraine as well as negotiations between Ukraine and Russia and EU and Ukraine, PAP quoted Mariusz Handzlik of the Presidential Chancellery as saying.
Handzlik said the conversation was held on the initiative of the Ukrainian president.
Meanwhile, Yushchenko will pay a working visit to Poland on Jan.14 to discuss Russian gas supplies to Europe with Kaczynski.
The two leaders are also expected to discuss Ukraine's plans to join the European Union and NATO, the Eastern Partnership initiative, and pressing bilateral issues, according to PAP.
