A training plane crashed in southern Russia early Wednesday and the pilot was missing, the RIANovosti news agency reported citing police.
The light L-39 Albatross plane was carrying out a training mission when it crashed in the Krasnodar region, police said, adding the wreckage of the aircraft has been found but the pilot was missing.
Police said the pilot could have ejected and survived and a search for the pilot was underway.
The Czech-made L-39 is designed for initial and advanced training of cadets at military flight schools. It was a standard jet trainer for the former Soviet Union and other Warsaw Pact countries.
Two L-39s crashed in February last year in the Krasnodar and Volgograd regions, RIA Novosti said.
