Albania's Labor Minister Anastas Duro resigned on Thursday as his party abandoned the governing coalition and joined the opposition just weeks before the country holds general elections.
Duro, 56, submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Sali Berisha as his Human Rights Union Party of ethnic Greeks switched partner and rejoined the main opposition Socialist Party grouping, which it left in 2005.
Berisha has nominated Deputy Justice Minister Viktor Gumi to replace Duro. The reshuffle of the cabinet lineup will have to be approved by the Albanian president to take effect.
