Premier Silvio Berlusconi said Thursday the upcoming Group of Eight summit will consider measures to prevent a repeat of the ongoing global economic crisis.

"It will first of all be a G8 of rules," Berlusconi said, referring to the negotiation of a global legal standard to prevent a recurrence of the economic crisis.

The legal standard will be discussed at the summit in L'Aquila, but would probably not be launched until a meeting of the Group of 20 developing nations in September, Berlusconi said.

The premier said he has finished preparing the issues to be discussed by the G8 leaders on July 10-12.

Climate change, the Doha Round of world trade talks, the liberalization of commerce and food security will be among the main topics on the agenda, he said.
