Two local trains collided in the Madrid railway station of Aluche on Friday morning, with 57 people injured.

Eleven people, including a pregnant woman, were taken to hospital, although none of their lives are thought to be in danger.

The accident happened in the early morning rush hour when one train reversed into another which was waiting at the Aluche station in the south of the Spanish capital.

The Medical service said that everyone was able to leave the accident scene by foot, but 57 people needed treatment, the majority were suffering from minor injuries.
