Norway's embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan has closed for security reasons, according to local media reports on Thursday.

The embassy will remain closed on Friday, the Department of Foreign Affairs was quoted as saying by Norwegian newspaper The Norway Post.

"The reason is the general development and evaluation of the situation in Pakistan as a whole," Ragnhild Imerslund, deputy director of the department, said.

Imerslund emphasized that Thursday's closure cannot be tied with the disclosure last week of terrorist plans in Pakistan, The Norway Post said.

Last week, plans were revealed of terrorist strikes aginst several embassies in Islambad, including the Swedish and the Norwegian embassies, according to the newspaper.
