The Albanian main opposition Socialist Party has re-elected Edi Rama as its new leader, local media reported on Monday.
Rama, also mayor of the capital city of Tirana, won 93 percent of the votes. About 65 percent of the country's 80,000 SP members cast votes.
Rama has led the Socialist Party since 2005 when his party lost the general elections to the country's Democratic Party and went into opposition.
The party's vote was called after the party lost once again to the Democrats led by Prime Minister Sali Berisha in the June 28 elections.
The Socialists' alliance has won 66 seats in the country's 140-seat parliament in the June 28 general elections.
The Democrats won 70 seats and teamed up with the Socialist Movement for Integration led by former Prime Minister Ilir Meta to form a coalition.
The Socialists have complained of irregularities and fraud in the elections, and are still boycotting the activities of the new parliament.
