France promises to help Poland on nuclear plan

France will help Poland to access nuclear power, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and visiting Poland Prime Minister Donald Tusk jointly announced Thursday after an exclusive talk in Paris.
The two leaders declared a common statement after talks about energy cooperation in Elysee Palace, covering topics of natural gas demand and supply in Europe, joint efforts on nuclear utilization and control of carbon emission.
Their agreements over nuclear includes training technicians and encouraging cooperation on research and development of nuclear energy. France promised to help Poland to meet its nuclear goal by2030, according to the statement.
Poland, mostly relying on coal for now, decided early this year to set up one or two nuclear power plants to transfer its energy system by 2020.
France and Poland signed a declaration to establish strategic partnership in May 2008, agreeing on close cooperation in fields of politics, economy, defense and culture.
