Albania has taken in three former Guantanamo prisoners released from the U.S. detention center in Cuba, the interior ministry said Wednesday.
The three men -- Tunisian, Egyptian and Libyan nationals - arrived in Albania on Tuesday, the ministry said in a statement.
"This transfer is a result of the engagement of the Albanian government in backing the Obama administration's policy to close the detention center in Guantanamo Bay," the ministry said.
In addition to the three former detainees, Albania has taken in 11 other former Guantanamo prisoners since 2006.
