Ongoing bad weather put 13 Spanish autonomous communities on alert Tuesday.
The provinces of Barcelona, Gerona, Tarragona and the Balearic Islands of Ibiza, Mallorca and Formentera are all on orange alert because of expected high winds and waves.
The Catalonia region experienced its worst snowfall in 25 years on Monday, while Aragon in northeastern Spain was also on alert because of intense cold, with temperatures of between minus 6 and minus 9 degrees Celsius.
Central Spain was also suffering from the cold snap with Castilla-Leon, Navarra and the north of the Autonomous Community of Madrid experiencing temperatures as low as minus 8 degrees Celsius.
In the far south of Spain, the region of Andalusia was placed on yellow alert on Monday because of high winds and waves in coastal regions.
