An American soldier died and another wounded in a non-combat related explosion in north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Sunday.
The incident took place in Salahudin province on Saturday, a military statement said.
The wounded soldier was transported to a medical facility for treatment, the statement said.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it said, adding the incident is under investigation.
The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed in Iraq to about 3,850 since the breakout of the U.S.-led war on Iraq in 2003, according to media account based on Pentagon figures.
