Two suicide bombers, one was driving a car while the other in a truck, struck a police checkpoint in northern Iraqi city of Mosul on Sunday, wounding at least 14 people, including policemen, a provincial police source said.
The twin suicide attack took place in the afternoon in Mosul's western neighborhood of Bab Sinjar, wounding 14 people, including eight policemen, Brigadier Wathiq al-Hamdani, police chief of Nineveh province, told Xinhua.
The blasts also damaged several nearby civilian cars, Hamdani added.
Nineveh province with Mosul, some 400 km north of Baghdad, as its capital city, has been the hotbed of insurgency and sectarian violence since the U.S.-led invasion broke out in 2003.
