A roadside bombing hit a U.S. patrol in the central Iraqi capital on Tuesday, a well-informed police source said.
"A roadside bomb detonated while a U.S. patrol was passing by near the al-Zawraa Park on Tuesday night," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
It was unclear whether American forces aboard sustained any casualty as the troops immediately cordoned off the area, preventing the Iraqi police from approaching the scene, he added.
The U.S. military has not confirmed the incident yet.
Earlier in the day, the U.S. military said six American soldiers including a sailor were killed on Monday in separate attacks across Iraq.
Separately, the Iraqi police picked up in the day four unidentified bodies from different parts of Baghdad, the source said.
The bodies were handcuffed, blindfolded and showed signs of torture with bullet holes in different parts of their bodies, he added.
The daily gruesome finding of corpses continued across Iraq despite more than eight months into U.S. and Iraqi security offensive designed to curtail sectarian violence in the war-torn country.
