Israeli soldiers, guarding the borders between central Gaza Strip and Israel, shot dead Saturday two Palestinian militants, paramedics and witnesses said.
Witnesses said they heard before dawn intensive gunfire in the area, while paramedics said they were called to pick up the bodies of two young men who were shot and killed by the Israeli soldiers stationed in the area.
Mo'aweya Hassaenin, chief of emergency in the ministry of health said the ambulance center in Gaza was informed by the Israeli army to send an ambulance to the area to take the bodies of two killed.
Overnight, two Palestinian militants were shot and wounded by Israeli soldiers also near the borders between eastern Gaza City and Israel. An Israeli army spokesman told Israel Radio the two had approached the fence of the borders.
The army also said that the soldiers stationed in the area noticed two men are trying to place a roadside bomb in the area, adding that the soldiers had immediately opened fire and hit them both.
