Palestinian militants with Fatah's armed wing al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, who were active in the West Bank town Nablus, said Monday they had decided to suspend attacks against Israel "until a further notice."

Ja'fat al-Samhan, commander of a group of dozens of militia, said in a statement that his men "decided to freeze all its military activities unanimously and in coordination with other Palestinian factions' armed wing."

He added that the decision was made "in compliance with the Palestinian national interest," denying reports that the decision was made as a result of outside pressure.

More than a month ago, the Palestinian national security forces were redeployed in Nablus, and implemented a security plan aiming at restoring order and discipline and ending several years of chaos and disorder.

The redeployment in Nablus came following an agreement reached between Israel and the Palestinian National Authority (PNA).
