Israeli troops rolled into southeastern Gaza Strip on Sunday morning and wounded a Palestinian teenager, medical sources said as Israeli media reported that the army killed two Palestinian gunmen.
Palestinian hospital officials did not confirm the reports about the death of the two militants, who the army said were placing explosives alongside security fence between Israel and southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah.
"We have heard about the death incident from the Israeli media but we did not receive any order to go and search for the bodies, "a paramedic told Xinhua on condition of anonymity because he is unauthorized to speak to the press.
According to residents in east Rafah, six Israeli tanks and two bulldozers have rolled for several kilometers into the area at dawn. Apache helicopters provided air cover for the incursion.
Kamel Awwad, 19, was moderately wounded by a sniper shooting, the hospital source said. A number of residents were also arrested in the operation.
