An explosion occurred in Turkey's largest city of Istanbul Wednesday, injuring two people, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.

The blast took place in a garbage can in the Kucukcekmece district in Istanbul, but the cause of the explosion was unknown, said the report.

The injured were rushed to a hospital for treatment, said the report, adding that Turkish police and health teams have rushed to the scene after the explosion.

Last week, the bombing rocked the same district in Istanbul, leaving one woman dead and six others injured.
