Twin suicide bomb attacks targeted the Sunni endowment office in northern Baghdad on Monday, killing at least six people, including an anti-al-Qaida group leader, and wounding more than 15 others, an Interior Ministry source said.
A suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest blew himself up at the Sunni endowment office in the Saba'-Abkar area in the Adhamiyah district, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Afterwards, another suicide bomber drove his explosive-laden car into a crowd of the Awakening Council group members and security forces who were gathering outside the building to evacuate the casualties and blew up his car, the source said.
Colonel Riyadh al-Samaraie, the leader of the U.S. and Iraqi government-backed Awakening Council group in the neighborhood, was killed by the attack, the source said.
Most of the victims were Awakening Council group members, the source said. Source:Xinhua
