Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said on Tuesday the latest round of peace talks with Israel brought nothing.

"The negotiations are still in their beginning," Abbas told reporters in Ramallah.

Israeli and Palestinian negotiation crews met on Monday in Jerusalem to discuss the obstacles which delay the progress of the peace talks.

The two sides agreed to launch the talks last month after years of halt. The building of Israeli settlements in West Bank was one of the main obstacles.

"If the desire and the true intentions, among the Israeli side, became available, then we would be able to make peace this year," Abbas said.

Meanwhile, Palestinian negotiator Yasser Abed Rabbo said the negotiations are "long and complicated political struggle where the results can't easily come."

"We did not promise anyone that there will be quick outcomes after one or tow rounds," Abed Rabbo told the official Voice of Palestine radio.
