Blowing up borders between Gaza and Egypt by militants was meant to boost Israel's vision of politically separating the Gaza Strip from the West Bank and giving Egypt more responsibilities on the coastal strip, an aide to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Saturday.

"Some factions and media try to show that the solution of this ordeal (the closure) was in the hands of Egypt or the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) rather than Israel," Yasser Abed Rabbo told Voice of Palestine radio.

"This helps Israel to go ahead with its plans to completely segregate Gaza and the West Bank," Abed Rabbo said, adding that Israel tries to use the breaches in the borders as a pretext to get itself rid of its responsibilities towards Gaza as an occupation force.

On Wednesday, Hamas gunmen, who lost hope of overcoming the Israeli siege on Gaza, opened holes in the concrete frontier and let crowds of Palestinians go to Egypt for shopping and bringing necessary materials that have been in shortage in Gaza due to the sanctions which Israel imposed last June.

Since Friday evening, the Palestinians entered Sinai Peninsula using their own cars while the Egyptian Central Security Forces did not clash with the human floods, an event never happened since1967.
