Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed AbulGheit has called on Israel to shoulder its responsibilities to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the official MENA news agency reported on Sunday.
Abul Gheit made his appeal in an address directed to the extraordinary meeting of the expanded executive foreign ministerial committee of the Organization of Islamic Conference recently held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, said the report.
Israel has to shoulder its responsibilities for the deterioration of the humanitarian conditions in Gaza, said Abul Gheit, who was represented at the meeting by Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs Mohamed Badruddin Zayed.
Abul Gheit also called on all parties concerned to work for there-operation of border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip under international arrangements.
Israel has imposed a blockade on Gaza since mid-June last year, when Hamas took control of the coastal strip. All crossings leading to Gaza have been closed down. Source: Xinhua
