Lebanese Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Thursday vowed to retaliate against Israel for allegedly masterminding the assassination of Imad Moughniyah, one of the group's top commanders.

"The blood of Imad Moughniyah will be the road to eliminate Israel," Nasrallah gave the speech through a huge screen at a mass funeral for Moughniyah in the southern suburb of Beirut.

Moughniyah was killed in a car bombing in a residential neighborhood of the Syrian capital of Damascus late on Tuesday. Hezbollah accused Israel of masterminding the assassination, which was rejected by Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office.

Moughniyah, 45, known as Hajj Radwan, had been in hiding for years. He was indicted in the United States for the 1985 hijacking of a TWA airliner in which a Navy diver died.
