Three Palestinian children were killed on Thursday afternoon in a fresh Israeli airstrike on northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahia, witnesses and medics said.
The witnesses said that four children had approached a rocket launcher erected in the area, adding that as soon as they got closed to the launcher, an Israeli aircraft fired one missile, killing three of them and wounded the fourth.
Mo'aweya Hassanein, chief of emergency and ambulance services in the Palestinian health ministry, confirmed that three Palestinian children were killed and one was seriously injured in the last Israeli strike.
He also said that two Palestinians were injured in another Israeli airstrike carried out late on Thursday afternoon. Witnesses said the two were in a car that was hit with one air-to-ground missile in northern Gaza Strip.
Israeli aircraft has launched a series of airstrike since Wednesday morning, considered as the toughest for several weeks on the Gaza Strip. Hamas militants and some buildings of the movement had been targeted.
The Israeli airstrikes were a reaction to Palestinian militants' homemade rockets attacks they carried out since Wednesday on towns and communities in southern Israel.
Hassanein said since Wednesday morning, 25 Palestinians were killed, 22 of whom are from Gaza, including seven children, while three of whom are from the northern West Bank City of Nablus.
