A spokesman for the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement on Saturday called on the Israeli army to be wary of invading Gaza Strip "because it will pay a high price."
"The occupation must recalculate its stances because going to the Gaza Strip was not a journey... Gaza Strip is the hell," Abu Ahmad, a spokesman for the al-Quds Brigades of the Islamic Jihad movement told reporters.
Two Israeli soldiers were killed this morning in clashes with Palestinian fighters in the eastern territories of northern Gaza Strip. Backed by helicopter gunship, the Israeli army rolled into Gaza after midnight, killing some 28 Palestinians so far.
Israel says the offensive was in response to the rocket attacks which Abu Ahmad said will continue hitting southern Israel communities. "Al-Quds Brigades yesterday fired an advanced rocket of 22 kilometers range and has shocked the Israeli army."
He dismissed Israeli claims that the strikes against Gaza were aimed at retaliating for the Palestinian rocket attacks which killed an Israeli resident on Wednesday.
"On that day, the rockets were resumed to be fired after Israel killed five Hamas fighters," said Abu Ahmad.
