A number of wounded Palestinians headed on Sunday for Egyptian border in southern Gaza Strip, hoping to get out of Gaza Strip for medical treatment after wide-scale Israeli offensive, witnesses said.

The witnesses added that several ambulance carried the wounded people as more than 90 Palestinians were killed and hundred others injured on the second day of Israeli army ground operation in northern Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, a pro-Hamas website reported that the Egyptian authorities had informed Hamas government of Gaza that Rafah crossing point will be open before the injured Palestinians.

The Israeli offensive takes place after more than eight months of tight Israeli blockade on the coastal strip where hospitals started to run out of vital medicine and health-care tools.

Sami Abu Zuhri, a spokesman for Hamas, said that "breaking the Israeli siege on Gaza became an urgent necessity in the wake of the genocide the Israeli army launching against the residents."

Rafah crossing has been sealed off since Hamas took over the territory last June and routing security forces of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas which were in control of the crossing's security.
