Islamic Hamas movement said on Saturday the shooting attack in Jerusalem, where eight Israelis were killed on Thursday, was a response to the security liaison between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA).

"This is also to confirm that the resistance is still existed and deeply rooted in the Palestinian people, and won't be affected by being crushed," said Ayman Taha, a spokesman for Hamas in Gaza trip.

The shooting comes a few days after Israel ended a military operation in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip. More than 125 Palestinians were killed in Israel's Operation Warm Winter.

Renewing Hamas' praises of the attack as "a price that the enemy should pay," Taha called on all armed Palestinian groups "to strike the enemy in depth whenever a chance allows."

Taha commented on Israeli reports which said that fingerprints of the Lebanese group Hezbollah were clear on the attack, saying the Israeli reports aim at "creating a crisis with Hezbollah to strike it in order to raise the spirits of the enemy."
