Three Palestinians were wounded at noon on Sunday when Israeli forces, positioned on the border in southeast Gaza Strip, opened fire at their houses, Palestinian witnesses said.
They said that Israeli army based at Kissufim commercial crossing, east of southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis, showered the heavy machinegun fire mainly at a house of a Palestinian fighter who was killed in the area three days ago.
The added that the ambulance vehicles were very late due to the heavy barrages of fire, especially after the Palestinian militants fired back to the Israeli army.
The area where gunfight erupted on Sunday has witnessed a bomb attack against Israeli army patrol last week.
Palestinian militants targeted an Israeli army jeep, patrolling the border in the same area, with explosives, killing a soldier immediately and seriously wounding another.
The Israeli sources said on Sunday that the second soldier also died of his wounds today.
Sunday's limited clashes come as Egypt is exerting diplomatic efforts to broker a ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip in the wake of a deadly Israeli military operation.
