A Palestinian farmer was shot dead on Thursday morning by Israeli troops' gunfire east of the city of Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip, medics and witnesses said.
Mo'aweya Hassanein, chief of emergency and ambulance services in the Palestinian ministry of health, told reporters that Israeli soldiers shot dead 65-year-old Hassan Abu A'bed in southern Gaza trip.
Witnesses said Israeli soldiers stationed near the borders between southern Gaza Strip and Israel opened fire at the farmer when he approached his farm which is close to the border area.
They added that as soon as he approached his farm early on Thursday morning, the soldiers opened fire and shot him dead. A Palestinian ambulance arrived at the scene and took the body to Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.
The Israeli side is checking the report.
Killing the farmer might violate a fragile lull between Israel and Palestinian militant groups in the Gaza Strip.
