A Fatah movement's spokesman on Saturday expressed rejection to the purported plan of deposed Premier and Hamas leader Ismail Haneya to expand his government in the Gaza Strip.
"Hamas movement doesn't seek dialogue and doesn't want reconciliation because basically it plans to expand a government that was legally sacked by President Mahmoud Abbas," said Fahmi Za'reer, Fatah movement' spokesman.
A pro-Hamas website had earlier reported that Haneya is holding intensive consultations to expand his government that was deposed in mid June last year after Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip.
Delegations representing Hamas and Palestine Liberation Organization resumed on Saturday the talks in Yemen on a Yemeni initiative that called for reconciliation and ending disputes between the two movements of Hamas and Fatah.
"Hamas' intention to expand its government in Gaza is evidence that Hamas isn't interested in dialogue and doesn't want to end the status of internal Palestinian division," said Za'reer.
After Hamas movement took control of the Gaza Strip by force and routed his security forces, Abbas sacked Haneya's government and instructed Dr. Sallam Fayyad to form a caretaker government that is based in the West Bank.
"Haneya rapes the executive authority in Gaza and he doesn't have any legal authorization to keep staying in the executive authority (the government) after the presidential sacking order in last June," said Za'reer. Source: Xinhua
