Up to four U.S. soldiers have been killed in central Iraq during the past 24 hours, the U.S. military said on Saturday.
Two U.S. soldiers and two Iraqi civilians were killed by a roadside bomb explosion near the soldiers' patrol in southwest of Baghdad on Saturday, a military statement said, adding that a third soldier was wounded by the attack.
But a following statement announced the wounded died of his fatal wounds in a military medical facility.
On Friday, an indirect fire attack in south of Baghdad killed a U.S. soldier and wounded four others, a U.S. military statement said.
The indirect fire usually refers to mortar or rocket attacks in the terminology of U.S. military statements.
The latest deaths pushed the death toll of U.S. soldiers in Iraq closer to 4,000 since the war broke out in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures. Source: Xinhua
