The Syrian-hosted Arab summit, which concluded a two-day meeting in Damascus on Sunday said in a final statement that the Israeli actions against the Palestinians are "crimes of war."

Secretary General of the Arab League (AL) Amr Moussa concluded the decisions taken by the two-day summit in a final statement he read before 11 Arab leaders, and representatives of ten Arab countries.

"The Arab summit considers the Israeli crimes in Gaza as crimes of war, and all the Israeli practices against the Palestinians should be ended. We call on the Security Council to carry its responsibilities to end these practices," said Moussa.

He added that the summit decided to give the Palestinians all kinds of political and financial support to the Palestinian people "to be able to confront the Israeli occupation and establish their independent Palestinian state."

The final statement of the Arab summit has also called for achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East based on the international resolutions and on the principle "land for peace."

The statement also called on Israel to withdraw from "the occupied Syrian Golan Highest and all the territories occupied by Israel during the Arab-Israeli war of June 4, 1967."

"The Arab summit reiterates to continue sticking to the Arab peace initiative and link it to achieve an Israeli commitment to the peace process in the Middle East," said Moussa.

The Arab Summit has "appreciated the Arab efforts to achieve reconciliations among the Palestinians, especially the Yemeni initiative of reconciliation, and calls for the continuation of the efforts to achieve the Palestinian reconciliation.
