The United Arab Emirates (UAE)and the Republic of Montenegro have established diplomatic relations of the ambassadorial level, the official Emirates News Agency reported on Saturday.
The diplomatic relations between the UAE and Montenegro start from April 4, 2008, a joint statement by the two countries was quoted as saying.
The joint statement was signed Friday in New York by UAE's Permanent Representative to United Nations Ahmed Abdul Rahman AlJaramain and his Montenegrin counterpart Nebojsa Kaludjerovic.
The statement expressed the desire of the two governments to strengthen friendly relations and cooperation between them based on the principles and goals of the UN Treaty, the international law and the international conventions ensuring mutual respect,nonintervention in internal affairs, national sovereignty, freedom and territorial integrity.
