A Palestinian farmer was killed and another one injured Saturday afternoon in an Israeli artillery shelling in northeast Gaza Strip, medical sources said. The sources of Kamal Adwan hospital in northern Gaza Strip said that the farmer, Ra'fat Mansour, 35, arrived dead and a relative of him named Mohammed suffered from moderate wounds. The sources also said the body of the slain was hit with shrapnel, quoting the injured man as saying that a tank shell landed in the farmer's filed in the east of Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, Palestinian security sources said that Israeli special forces entered the area in the east of Jabaliya and exchanged fire with Palestinian militants. They added that the Israeli army fired shells into the area and resulted in the death of the farmer who was working at his nearby field.

The areas alongside the security fence which separates between Gaza and Israel witness almost daily incidents of fire exchange between the Israeli army and the militants in addition to limited Israeli incursions.
