A senior leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Gaza said Thursday that the current political efforts are "a conclusive opportunity" to reach a truce and to lift a blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip.
Ismail Radwan, a leader of Hamas, told press that "reaching a cease-fire (with Israel) is a decisive opportunity "as the situation in the Gaza Strip is closed to an explosion."
Egypt is mediating a cease-fire between Israel and the Palestinian militant groups led by Hamas in Gaza Strip. Two senior Hamas leaders are currently in Egypt holding talks on a ceasefire with Israel.
"Hamas delegation in Cairo has decided to remain there waiting for the Egyptian officials to bring an answer (from Israel) on a ceasefire proposal the movement had presented to Egypt," said Radwan.
Earlier Thursday, Palestinian sources said Egypt intelligence chief Omer Suleiman is planning to visit Israel early next week to present Hamas ceasefire initiative to Israelis.
Mahmoud al-Zahar and Said Siam, two senior Hamas hardliners, arrived in Cairo on Wednesday from Syria after they held talks with Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal on a truce with Israel.
"I believe that everyone should grab this opportunity because if there will be no ceasefire, the whole region will be facing a huge volcano," said Radwan, warning of any efforts' failure to agree on a ceasefire and lift the blockade.
