Poland's embassy in Baghdad came under rocket or mortar attack on Thursday, and one of its security guards was slightly injured, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said.
A rocket or mortar shell hit the quarters of the security guards of the embassy, injuring one of the five people inside it, the Polish news agency PAP quoted Sikorski as saying.
It has yet to be confirmed whether the embassy was deliberately targeted, Sikorski said, adding that the incident has been reported to Polish President Lech Kaczynski and Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
He also said Poland will not change its plan to withdraw troops from Iraq by the end of this year.
The embassy is located in Baghdad's Green Zone just a few hundred meters from the U.S. embassy which is often the prime target of militants.
Currently, Poland has about 900 troops deployed in the war-torn country, much less than the 2,500 troops deployed there in 2003 when the war on Iraq began.
More than 20 Polish soldiers have been killed in Iraq so far.
