Demonstrators in front of the European Union headquarters here on Saturday urged for protection of Iraqi Christians.
From 3,000 to 6,000 people from several European countries took part in the demonstration, according to organizers.
The protestors said that Christians have been increasingly targeted in attacks in Iraq and the Middle East.
They had intended to march towards the U.S. embassy but stopped by the police, said one of the protestors.
Germany urged last week other EU member nations to accept more Christian refugees from Iraq, but the call was rejected due to concern that the privilege for Christians could mean discrimination against other religious groups.
Thousands of Christians have reportedly fled from Iraq since the United States invaded the country in 2003. Recently, some members of Christians were attacked by extremists. Source:Xinhua
