A Palestinian militant group, loyal to Hamas, will head for Egypt on Monday to discuss ceasefire with Israel, a spokesman for the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) said on Sunday.

The visit comes upon an invitation from the Egyptian leadership, said Abu Mujahed, the PRC spokesman in Gaza.

"The talks will focus on a number of issues, especially the lull, prisoner exchange and the siege on Gaza Strip," Abu Mujahed added.

The meeting comes after Egypt ended a series of talks with Hamas, which rules Gaza Strip, over the ceasefire and is starting new rounds of talks with the other factions.

Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) will also send a delegation to Egypt on Monday for talks with senior Egypt officials on a possible ceasefire with Israel upon the invitation of Egypt, it said in a statement on Saturday.

Hamas, meanwhile, awaits the Israeli response to its ceasefire offers. The response is expected to be handed over to the Egyptians next week.

Hamas wants to ensure that the calmness should lead to lifting the siege that Israel has imposed on the Gaza Strip when the Islamic movement seized control of the territory by force last year.
