Palestinian fighters fired several rockets and mortar shells at Israeli targets around the Gaza Strip on Sunday night and early Monday, factions said in separate statements.

Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement, said it fired seven mortars at the Erez, a crossing to Israel in northern Gaza Strip. The brigades said theycarried the attack in cooperation with the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC), a pro-Hamas armed group.

Meanwhile, the military wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) said it fired three rockets at southern Israeli port city of Ahskelon and a rocket at Sderot city in northeast Gaza.

Other groups loyal to Fatah separately claimed responsibility for firing two home-made rockets at eastern Gaza city targeting Nahal Oz fuel crossing and an Israeli community village. On Sunday, Israel defense forces closed the Karni border crossing and the Nahal Oz fuel terminal with the Gaza Strip after rocket attacks from Palestinian militants. Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, did not participate in any of the fresh rocket attacks since it accepted an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire with Israel. Israel has not yet responded to the proposal.

Besides Hamas, the factions which fired these rockets had also visited Cairo and agreed on the lull proposal which would take effect when Israel accepts it.
