Hamas movement on Sunday said it was ready for dialogue with rival Fatah movement but without any preconditions.

Yaheia Moussa, a Hamas parliamentarian, said Hamas was "ready for immediate dialogue upon any initiative that stipulates no preconditions at any party."

Moussa's remarks were in response to an initiative proposed by a respectful Palestinian businessman for reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah.

The businessman Moneeb al-Massri said his initiative "is presented as a complete package away from the conditions."

However, Moussa also stated that any initiative "should build on what was achieved" during previous deals between Hamas and Fatah. "We can't be back to the zero point."

President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah bans any contacts with Hamas unless the Islamic movement gives up its control on the Gaza Strip, which was taken by Hamas by force in last June.

While Hamas says giving up control over Gaza should be made via the unconditional dialogue with Fatah.

"The differences are made as a result of foreign interference and orders upon Abbas... Abbas can end this problem as he believed that his future and the future of the Palestinian cause can be secured by the national agreement," Moussa said.
