An American soldier died due to a non-battle related incident, the U.S. military said on Tuesday.
The soldier, assigned to Multinational Force-West, died on Sunday, the military said in a statement without providing further details about the incident, but said it is under investigation.
The name of the deceased soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.
The latest death brings the number of U.S. troops killed in Iraq since the March 2003 invasion to more than 4,085, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
